Often one of the greatest challenges to relocating
expatriates and their families in adapting to their
new environment derives from the cultural differences
between themselves and their new hosts.
By this we mean the inherent differences
between groups of people around the world which leads
to their having different ways of doing things, different
beliefs, different values - in brief, a different
culture.
To optimise the opportunities of
an overseas assignment, it is important to understand
the essential differences between our culture and
that of one's hosts. In this way we can work
more effectively. We can live more enjoyably and we
can enrich ourselves from the experience.
In Relocations Kenya, we are pleased
to be able to offer cultural orientation programmes
through trainers with experience in management training
and with particular interest in this field. This can
take the form of half-day courses which we regularly
give to our transferees and their partners in small
groups, or to programmes adapted specifically to transferee
needs.
We can also participate in our client's
own management training programmes, providing the
input for culture related sessions integrated into
their in-house training.
